Excessive rain has been a common occurrence through out the UK for many years, with the occasional loss of life, but the constant damages to both property and infrastructure. Is it not time that we all re-looked at the adverse weather clauses in construction contracts, and reduced the 1 in 100yr criteria?

In the past two months we have received near record levels of rain.  Many of the projects around the M4 corridor near Reading are either in the process of being mothballed until the new year, or they are just doing minor works, while over-pumping rain water into existing pipework which is already at over-capacity.
